Fragmented post-mission thoughts.

Cielo settles down on The Couch in the Embryon's untouched New York apartment for the first time in weeks. He sits down with a heavy sigh, and a heavy weight on his shoulders and heart. There's also a pen and paper in his lap, and he's looking down at it thoughtfully ( Read more... )

Duo knocks at the apartment door, for courtesy more than anything. When there's no answer he opens the door anyway, probably the result of a stupid impulse he wouldn't be able to explain later.

When he spots Cielo, for a minute there's not much he can do except stare. His hyperactivity is overrun by his shock to see his friend. He moves closer, and spots the notepad. A short moral debate later and he reads whatever he can make out on the page that's open. He's not sure he understands what it means, but wow. Something was up.

"...You okay, buddy?" Still...Cielo!

Cielo doesn't make any reaction, other than stretching a bit and curling up into the armrest of The Couch. The notebook falls off of his lap and onto the floor, flipping back to the first page.

Yup, Cielo's still asleep. He's even snoring a bit.

Duo sighs and picks up the notepad, really meaning to set it on a table and just find a piece of floor to sit on and wait for his buddy to wake up. There was no way he was leaving. If he did, part of Duo worried he'd end up having to search for his friend again. No more of that, thanks.

He does sit down, but curiosity ends up winning with the journal and he reads through the whole thing a few times before setting it away. Half of it didn't make sense. But something had clearly happened to Cielo. There's a million things he wants to ask the boy, but would feel too badly for it he woke Cielo.

At least he was alright. "You had me worried, buddy." Is all he says from the floor. "....Rrrrrgh. Why you've gotta sleep now is my bad luck." He'd wait a bit. If the boy didn't wake up within an hour Duo was chucking a pillow at him.

The boy groans and rolls over... to the wrong side. He ends up falling over on the floor, and bolting upright with a rather confused gaze. Strangely, his eyes are a bright orange, but then fade back to their usual blue...

Cielo looks around, fussing with the beaded dreads that fall in front of his face.

"..." He sees Duo and just blinks a few times.

"D-Duo! Brudda!" Cue a flying tackle-glomp... literally!

Shuffle, shuffle. Thunk.

It's taking Sera some work to move down the hallway to the living room. But at least now that she's back it's easier to breathe, and she can walk without the assistance of a walker tank.

It takes her a moment to realize that there's people in the living room, but once she sees Cielo she starts working her way towards him.

Cielo hears the shuffling in the hall, blinking. He holds his hand up, signaling for Duo to be quiet as he listens closely.

". . . Sera!!" The boy exclaims once she comes into view. "Hey dere, sista!"

"Good to see that you made it back safely too." Sera says to Cielo, and nods politely to his friend. He looks vaguely familiar, and it takes a moment to remember that she saw him during the drunk Vayu incident.

"I wanted to come back here for a break. How are you doing?" She can only speak for herself, but the Portland mission has left her shaken up.

"And you too! I was worried, everyone kinda went deir on way 'n stuff, lost track 'a dem." Cielo says, resting his hands on his hips.

"And, uh, I'm doin' good!" Well, that's kind of a lie. He's extremely shaken up, and... hungry. "Betta now dat you 'n Duo are here. An' yo'self?"

Cielo is sitting on the kitchen counter with a packet of Twinkies. He takes a thoughtful bite of one, and mutters something about how terrible it tastes. Then, another bite. His notepad is left on the couch.

In fact, he's so engrossed in his Twinkie taste-testing that he doesn't notice Heat for a few long moments.

"Heat! Brudda! Haven't seen you in awhile, ja!"
