I love you, do I tell you that often enough?

When I come home, my dad tells me my ideas about things like fair trade are irrational and escapist, but I've been telling him that if we aren't idealists then things never change.

And stories touch us; they're what we structure our lives off of. We tell ourselves stories to make sense of the world around us, to motivate and compel us. That's one of the reasons why I study literature: because you can't convince me that there's anything closer to the human heart than narrative (okay, perhaps that's an exaggeration, but we have yet to find a human society without it).

(Two tangentially related points to the one you just threw out there, perhaps, but ah well. On another semi-related note, I really, really want to read this book now. I think my mom has it :: plots::)
