It looks more to me as if they killed Santa and are hanging his pelt outside their home as a trophy, or perhaps as a warning.

The Santa skin is clearly a reference to the movie version of Coraline. I know we all tried to forget that there was a movie of Coraline, but clearly the Other Mother has skinned Santa and left him as a warning to others.

Or maybe Santa has molted.

I kind of love Daddy kissing Santa Claus.

My dog looks as sad as that gargoyle everytime I make her get out of the kitchen when I am cooking. I may as well strap felt antlers to her so I can at least try to enjoy it.
