Happy Birthday, the_cephalopod, & many joyous returns!
And what a lovely birthday prezzie this is! Slickery-wet John, scattered with droplets that sparkle in the sun... slightly-bashful (!) Rodney blushing under a flopsy sunhat.... mmmm-MMM.

I'm with Rodney-I don't get why this John has to spend all his time in a chlorinated puddle of children & urine either-but fortunately he inspires EP!Rodney to unexpected feats of bravery! If they didn't set off an epidemic of grinning in all the people around, I don't know what would.... Thanks very much for sharing this with us so we can go around grinning today too.

(Possibly you meant malignant in Well, that and malign melanoma, but that's beside the point.)

Thanks for catching that! I think my brain was stuck on Swedish there... I think I agree with Rodney too. But at least in pools, you don't get slimy algae and stuff brushing against your leg *shudders*

OMG, Rodney is saying *everything* I've ever thought about public pools and I even go around saying things like 'hello, have you noticed I'm like the poster child for the malignant melanoma society?' and 'I don't tan, my freckles coalesce'.

I love, love, love Rodney here. I love the descriptions of what the heat does to you. I love seeing John come out of the pool! (Natch)

I find it sadly ironic that my job involves swimming dogs twice a week. What was I thinking??

I don't tan either, I get lobster red and stay that way.

But John does look very good in his swimming shorts. They hang precariously low on his hips and while the boys eat lunch, Rodney plays with the thought of just reaching out to undo the knot on the drawstring that holds them up. He won't get to do that until they're home though...

Thank you for sharing the cephalopod's birthday present with us. I love the Entangled Particles universe and I'm looking forward to other stories as they evolve. This was sweet. And I estimate that Rodney will be swimming with John in 1, 2, 3...

Thank you! Rodney will refuse to get into the pool, but John will splash enough water on him that he'll end up dripping wet anyway, all in the interest of keeping him cool of course ;)

Oh man. I can just feel the heat.

John absolutely has superpowers if he can entice Rodney away from his beloved AC. LOL

*squishes them both*
