Before we get into it, a little context. My birthday was two days before we left, and mostly I received gifts I could take with me, so I did. Most prominantly were three DS games I managed to play and mostly finish while on the trip.

Less than 25% of Americans have passports because getting a passport is a pain in the ass. Also expensive. Or at least it was when my brother went to Australia.

I think most countries tend to pay the most attention to what goes on within their own borders, but the floods were on the cable news channels over here. I was watching it in the train station and mad that I couldn't hear. (Closed captioning. TVs have it. Why doesn't anyone ever turn it on?!) I WAS WORRIED ABOUT YOU. ;-;

Ha, I expected it to be something like that about the passports... and most countries would be a bit selfish with their news. Our Nine News in particular decided to just completely ignore the rest of the world, even the rest of AUSTRALIA, once the floods happened, and they're only JUST NOW starting to remember the rest of the world EXISTS. xD Sisterling was most annoyed that they canceled a program about Chopper Rescues or something for their continued news coverage. She's addicted to those nonfiction paramedic/hospital shows, I swear. xD

YAY, I HAVE FRIENDS WHO WORRY ABOUT ME! *hugs* I've honestly never had anyone outside my family worry about me when bad things are happening before! ;-;

I know what you mean about the closed captioning! While we were in a shopping centre in Coffs Harbour, the TV there was waaaaaay up on the ceiling and impossible to hear! We could only get information from the little title bar at the bottom! xD
