Being Human, Carver on S8, and the most apt description of SPN EVER!

Jul 15, 2012 20:33

I've been watching the first season of Being Human lately, in light of Jeremy Carver coming back to SPN for showrunning duties. I'm quite impressed actually, I think he's done a really awesome job with it. I may have a couple of times had the thought that it's kinda sad a werewolf, vampire, and a ghost have gotten more emotional resonance per ( Read more... )

The reactivity of the last couple years has made the show anywhere from depressing to boring. I need my Winchesters play that active role in the narrative again, and this sounds like a perfect way to do that and breathe some new life into the show. I do hope it is successful.
This, totally, absolutely. I mean, that's a big part of what made me stop watching. And now, hearing that things may be "better" in S8 ... I might give the show another try. And, if it's as good as I'm hoping, I'll have to hunt down what I missed in S6 & 7 ...

Like the icon says: real men hunt demons ... they don't wait for demons to find them first. :P

LIZZY!!! I did alittle squeal when I saw your comment the other day, I'm so excited to see you around again!

I mean, that's a big part of what made me stop watching. Yep, it's one of my biggest problems in recent years. I'm pretty sure we're not alone on that front. That's not to say it didn't work in prior seasons, but to continue it for so long just feel tiring. And I think S6/7, as much as I love Gamble's writing, I think her style of 'torturing the boys is fun' took it abit too far. I don't like the passiveness. I want active Winchesters! And maybe alittle bit successful!Winchesters. They haven't had a win in SO long now. So...maybe alittle Raiders of the Lost Ark could be a good thing for the show ( ... )

I haven't read all of the SDCC spoilers yet, but so far, I'm feeling optimistic.

The idea that Sam and Dean have been too reactive in the past and Carver would instead like them on the offensive this year I think is A++.

I would LOVE to see the guys take the offensive for a change, and if this is indeed the case, if things are going to be shaken up like this, well, I'm looking forward to S8 even more.

I only caught a couple news articles with some interview quotes, but I mostly liked what I heard. The offensive quote was one of my favorites though, 'cause that's been a complaint of mine for a while now. If they can see some things like that that need improvement, there's some hope yet! *crosses fingers really really hard*

And THANK YOU for linking that article a couple weeks back! I actually went and wrote a long rambly comment on it, and then my Chrome died and it was eaten by my computer and I never got back to it :( But that quote has been stuck in my head repeating so much since! The more I think about it, the more apt I think it is!

Yeah, the guys have been letting things happen to them for too long. Time to go out and kick some supernatural ass as only the Winchesters can. ;)

Glad you enjoyed the article -- it really is a perfect description of SPN and I just HAD to share.

After watching Jensen talk so passionately about Sam and Dean today I agree I'm feeling optimistic too. We do need something to breathe new life into our show and If J Carver does it right, it could be amazing again.

That one liner you quoted, LOL that hit it right on the head!

Ooo! Are their videos already? I still haven't run into any yet, I'll have to track them down. I broke my last set of headphones yesterday, I need to buy new ones tomorrow. But I'm glad to hear Ackles is sounding optimistic too. I'm crossing my fingers REAL hard that Carver is up to the task!

Heh, doesn't it just describe it all?!

Glad to inspire some more hope! I'm crossing all fingers and toes for S8 right now. Let's hope Carver's got the magic hand!

Not that I can tell much from the press room, but I think going back to beginning while still keeping in line with what the show has become is the best option.

Then again, Edlund started to talk at my table about the senile relative who doesn't know if someone's a daughter or niece.

WAIT...WHUT? (Assuming you meant 'like' not 'about'), is he really that loopy?!

Ooo, and you scored a press room table, that's really awesome, how'd you swing that?

No, I meant about. He was trying to explain what happens to shows after they've been on so long and the analogy was that senile relative who doesn't know what's what. He was really loopy yesterday, but that's totally okay in my mind.

The real blog I write for had access and I was the one from the site who went in.

Oh! I see. Strange, Edlund. I know he used to say something about how these boys just want to die and they're cursed because the show must still continue. But senile relative. I'm not sure if I like that. I mean who's the senile relative at this point anyway, the show, or the writers?

Ooo! That's really awesome! Were you able to ask questions and stuff too?
