Today I had three things to do: Get my TB test read, do a 2-hour volunteer shift at the zoo, and pick up a prescription from Walgreen's. This took me SEVEN HOURS because I ride the bus. I think this is some sort of sign to make me feel better about getting a car.

Reminds me of how, when I went to get my physical for my driver's license, I missed the bus and had to walk four miles.

I cannot imagine life without a car at this point. Especially in the Midwest

It was pretty awesome yesterday when I was able to leave for the zoo about 40 minutes before my shift (I like to get there early), did my time there, headed back home and then decided "no, I am going to swing by the post office and get stamps and mail this package!" Instead of spending 3 hours on the bus round-trip and then begging Scott to take me later.

It still makes me nervous, and sad that I'm not helping out the planet with my bus-ridin', but the freedom is pretty amazing. This city is just not structured the way SF and surrounding areas are, where you can do everything you need to do within a fairly small radius.

That said, I'll probably still ride the bus the days I have class downtown, because I hate driving downtown.

Believe me, I have the same feelings about that. Every time I pump gas I think "ugh, really not helping the environment" but then I remember that COTA is basically nonexistent, except for downtown. And I like the whole being able to do things in a reasonable amount of time.

Unless there's an event (Columbus tends to close off like 50% of the major streets) or tearing up a street(Construction season) it's not too bad. Actually, I think there's more traffic in the suburbs, like Westerville.
