No custom f-locking here, since I'm pretty sure all of you HP-reading people have at least gotten to or near the end. If not, please exert self-control because there are HBP SPOILERS AHEAD.
(And if you're done with HBP and I haven't unlocked you for my Snape discussion post... oops! Let me know so I can unlock you.)

#12: DADA is an extremely important subject now, and Dumbledore wants someone competent in the position. Whatever one thinks of Snape, one has to admit that the man knows his Dark Arts.

Erm, didn't mean for that to be anonymous; sorry. :/ Damn modern technology... ::grumble::

I touched on competence in point #6, under the general heading of Quality Control. Your comment is much more specific, however, so I inserted your point to further clarify why QC is needed at such a time, with proper credit to you, of course ;)

The greatest thing for having Snape as DADA teacher is that he ended up teaching Harry double -- Harry learned (or at least "cheated") quite a bit in Potions from his precious Half-Blood Prince! Snape gets the last laugh here. *g*

Here from the Shiznitch. I agree that bringing Slughorn back and shifting Snape's job was a good idea, but let's not brush aside Albus's previous staff appointments as mistakes ( ... )

Thanks for such a thoughtful comment/analysis! It's very true that the DADA teachers have been the most eclectic bunch yet.

I agree with your analysis for each past professor... it's a wonder that students learn anything in DADA at all :p
