I just came back from "An Evening with Harry, Carrie and Garp," a book reading event featuring Stephen King, John Irving, and J.K. Rowling. Each author read an excerpt of his or her work and answered questions at the end. I went with something like 20 other people, and it was a lot of fun :)My absolute favorite person of the night was John Irving. ( Read more... )

Yes, and he's funny like he normally is for interviews. He's also very down-to-earth, very normal :)

Yeah, I know Gina was able to record the Salman Rushdie question, poor quality that it was. I've been mauling over that question quite a bit!

Irving was fabulous. I think the female part of the audience was verrrrrrry impressed with him.

I just liked the fact that Rushdie is a part of the Snape crew.

You're right the reading excerpt chosen by Rowling was very safe. I wish she would have chosen the Harry/Sluhorn meeting to read.

Irving was by far my favorite of the night. Haha, the Harry/Slughorn scene would have been nice -- I wonder what voice she would have given him.

Oh, it was good that you went Aug 1. I like the Aug 2 questions better, but JKR refused to answer most of them, so you got the better deal in the end, I think. :)
