thank you for telling me that. I was starting to feel like a freak again and worry myself. I hate that feeling.

Setting it differently for guests is you being courteous to your visitors

right and i agree with that and i'm comfortable with that argument and heck I'll do it...

I guess I was just really offended with the charge of "normal people" and how he talked to me.

Hell, the highest I've ever had my thermostat this winter has been 65, day or night, and I've got a programable that takes it down to 55 at night. I like sleeping under big piles of comforters/blankets. Good thing too, since in my two years in Japan there was NO heat at night...

Still, even with my thermostat this low, the electric bill for me was the highest I've ever had... suspect my water heater may be a big culprit as the faucet water is so cold now that I'm basically showering with 100% hot water from the water heater.

Frankly I'm not sure how you put up with your brother at all...

The average down here in the summer is 105. Most people here have to wear sweaters when the temperatures go below 65. >_>

We have the heater set to 62 in the winter day or night and about 80 or 85 in the summer. We've started making adjustments for guests, after realizing that not everyone is comfortable with that.

You do save when you turn the thermostat down over night. With a high temperature difference overnight, you need that much more energy to fight the heat bleed-off. When you heat it back up during the day, you're not fighting against the outside temperature as much because it gets warmer as the sun comes up.
