It's hard not to invoke an image of the illustration on the front of that book, isn't it? : ) I felt like one of the kids clamboring out to look over the brink, feeling a bit disturbed by what I saw.
I'm glad the writing came across. I was a passive verb nightmare by the time I'd scratched out my rough draft, lol.
I think fear of heights is a good self-preservation instinct, really!
