Ooh, and interesting article. The prose is a bit over the top at points, but otherwise a very good read. I hadn't thought about the increases in oil prices in that region - I generally think about places like Mexico, where there's really no supply like there is in the Middle East - but it's interesting (and unfortunate) to see that it is effecting people all over the globe, even near where the oil is mostly produced. And the increases in food prices, both independently and as a result.

I also admit to having a complete fascination (based on what you've told me in the past) about the Egyptian minibuses. After the buses of Costa Rica and Nicaragua - both very different beasts - I think I'm developing an interest in impoverished nation transportation. (It even rhymes!)

Heh. This one is actually from back in February from before the oil crisis really got much momentum up. I just kept forgetting to post it...until yesterday, when Mr. Flowery Prose had another one on the front page of the LA Times about how things are even worse now. I'll be getting around to posting that one soon. :) I've still got another one or two from this series in the queue to put up first ( ... )
