Go see your dentist

I like to think of myself as a 'good kid.' But for the past 3 years I've been pretty bad. Partially due to not having dental insurance, partially out of loyalty to my childhood dentist, and sheer laziness, it has been 3 years since I've seen a dentist. Finally did that today. And, if you get laid off, try asking your dentist if they have some kind of discount for that - I got a stern talking-to from my dentist when I went in again after getting a new job, and explained why I hadn't been in sooner. It seems they've got a special rate for people with that sort of circumstance.

despising flossing in a national past-time.

if you haven't, try Glide floss. it's super-strong and slipidy. i like the ribbon better than the string, even with super-tight teeth.

and ditto on the not having oodles of money. any good dentist will at least work up a reasonable payment plan.

teeth are mechanical. it's all maintenance.

I agree. Glide rocks. I have routine appointments twice a year, and every other visit they do X-Rays. Try using the flouride stuff too.
