On paid accounts and snaplinks

So... my paid account came up yesterday. I didn't renew it. I'm debating the additional user pics as I love those, but I haven't been posting enough or commenting enough.

Of course I come here today and have damn snapshot crap associated with every link. How do I turn off?

All the links in my Friendslist and down the side of my nav bar that go outside of LJ have a little icon next to them and if I hover over them (like to click the link) it auto does a snapshot preview. I'm sure turning off java would fix it, but I actually like having java on.

It has an options button. Find it on the snapshot thing and you can turn them off after a browser reset.

Snapshots doesn't go away with a paid account, but there are ways to make it go away from *every* site:

Yah, using chrome and I haven't yet figured on the Ad Block plus. The LJ specific one worked. I know I've set that before. I think what I hate most of about LJ is the random resetting of account preferences.

Does Chrome actually allow you to block ads? Why should it?

You can also put lots of the entries on the adblock files into your hosts file with the IP address 127.0.0.1, and they will disappear forever, because your computer will look for them on your local machine.

(That's /etc/hosts in most unices, C:Windows\hosts.txt in legacy VMS-based OSes, and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts in WinXP.)
