Wow. I honestly have never looked at the Ecco games in such a light. I mean, I have always admired the games for their uniqueness and beauty and fun, but... wow. Thank you for writing this.

The actual console industry is in the process of spiraling inward upon the destiny it has chosen for itself. There is neat stuff happening on iphones, though. And I have some vain hope that there will be very interesting things happening on social platforms in the next couple of years, and when game developers manage to retire without being completely crushed and start making small art games on the scale of the old Genesis games. I'm starting with some branching story experimentation for a kindle choice adventure story set in Andovar, and hope that has valuable prototype takeaway for branching narrative in a future 2D top-down RPG. :)
