Creature of the Week #4: the American Crow

Apr 15, 2011 22:58

In case you're wondering, no, I didn't skip one! Last week's creature-of-the-week wound up being the elusive and lovely Windstone Griffin -- there was so much great response to the Windstone post that I couldn't bear to put it below the fold for the week following. Remember that you can still 'like' the Andovar page for a chance to win a baby ( Read more... )

Thank you for this post. I'm a big fan of crows and ravens. A pet store we frequented had two white necked ravens as pets and Howard arranged for me to fed them once. From that day forward, whenever I came to the store, one of them would hope to the holes in his plexiglass enclosure and caw at me, letting me get as close as I could. I'm very sure he remembered who I was.

Thanks for the note. :) Glad to see you and family seem to be doing well. I'm sure the raven did remember you. They're really such remarkable creatures. I've always been curious about them when kept as pets... whereas parrots actively and observably enjoy being around people, ravens have more of that wildness that makes you wonder.

I'm not really anonymous, I just don't have an account at any of the available options ...

I've known from an early age that when I saw a crow I was to pay attention. Now I know why. Thanks for the post.

If you are wondering, "Is that a Crow or a Raven?", it's a Crow.

If you are wondering, "Oh my God is it going to eat my car?", it's a Raven.

Is it just me or are both crows and ravens in your area exceptionally large? What exactly is the plan with that? :)
