What's funny to me is that Aurora Models put out a snap-together model of "Phororacos" for its "Prehistoric Scenes" kit line back in the mid-Seventies, and I was about the only kid who appreciated it. Thanks to the wonders of eBay, I bought a replacement about five years ago, and it still has a place of honor in my office. Getting a skull replica, though, is cool beyond words.
That is totally awesome. **giggle** Because no one but a scholar would be interested in bones you probably confused the heck out of her. That store would be entirely too tempting for me.
I am going to have to just keep myself from entering the store unless it is explicitly planned, because yes, it just has entirely too much cool stuff in it. Though we'll probably be going back soon because now jsridler wants a skull for his desk. I will restrain myself with difficulty.
Well, the "should have said" is for you all -- if I'd said it at the time it would have caused even more confusion than I was already wreaking.
And yes, the puppet talking didn't take long. :) What will take a little longer is a decent photo of me with it that I can use on conference websites when they ask for a photo... :)
It's actually neither! It's an artist sculpture of the real thing, but from a professional dude who does this to a very high degree of accuracy. With really rare fossils they don't want to take casts and risk damaging the original in the process, so the bone artist comes in. :)

Dontcha hate that, coming up with the perfect zinger after the fact?
But the IMPORTANT question here is: do you make the skull talk like a puppet yet?

(Maybe not really. But it still needs a name.)
