Hi all. Been following the fires this morning, but haven't posted because information became sporadic and unreliable for most of the morning. It's settling down now and the news sources seem to be getting more on top of it. Still posting these because I keep hearing from people who are having trouble finding information even inside of San Diego. ( Read more... )

Thanks again for the continued updates. And thanks for the reminder where your grandparents are. I was wondering. Knew your mom was safe, being downtown and all.

Just saw on the map that the WAP was right in the center of a fire area.. Hope they're okay, well.. as okay as they can be with that many panicked animals.

aaaand I found the answer to my own question on their site. Sounds like the WAP has things under control.

No worries, glad the updates are useful. And yeah, they are in the clear and have been -- central San Diego is fine.

The WAP has their stuff together, but I would bet they are probably going to take some losses. They have fire contingency -- big enclosed areas with "moats" around them -- where they've put the highly endangered animals, but I don't know how much of their landscape (which includes a lot of endangered plants IIRC) will be damaged...
