I should be finishing this article, but...

...I have another day, and I'm using the excuse of needing to verify some quotations before I go on.

There is delicious Cordwainer Smith online, link courtesy the FreeSFOnline project. pantlessjohnny, I did finish "Mark Elf", and it is indeed the shit. This stuff, in combination with the massive amount of stuff online at Project Gutenberg is making me again ( Read more... )

I totally missed the part of this post where you said you were going to Context! Dang, I wish I could make it this year... you'll get to meet Michael Arnzen, who is a HOOT, and Tim Esaias too, hopefully. ;)

Are you taking any of the workshops?

Also, I know you've sold some poems lately, which is why I'm browsing through back entries of your LJ. Are any of them available yet? I thought of it last night after I posted the "Kudos!" post, and realized I didn't want to leave you out. ;)

I knew that I had gotten this comment from you at some point, but I was moving, and it took me awhile to dig up where it had gone, because I am too lazy to dig through my email for it. ;)

I'm signed up for Gary Braunbeck's workshop and am greatly looking forward to it, though with a nontrivial amount of apprehension. I believe Arnzen is doing the poetry workshop, which I was vaguely interested in but have a conflict as they put me on FOUR freaking panels (I'm not complaining, quite the opposite, it's just a lot) that are going to be taking up a majority of my time there.

Nothing is online yet that I know of (except the Antimuse stuff that I posted awhile ago), but I got a note from John Klima that the poem he bought will be in the next issue of Not One of Us. I don't think it'll be online, though.

Oh, I so wish I could be there this year, but alas. I hope you have a fantastic time. Gary is really cool, and Arnzen is a HOOT. Be sure and tell Arnzen you know me. Make a vague and scary remark about Odyssey invading Seton Hill. And if he looks at you funny, just tell him I put you up to it. ;)

What panels are you doing?

I met him at World Horror, actually. Yeah, he seemed like a cool guy. (Arnzen. Though now that I think on it that definitely applies to both him and Gary Braunbeck, and Gary's wife Lucy Snyder, who is on LJ and I liked a great deal.)

I should verify this and actually print out a copy of the schedule, but off the top of my head, looking at the list, I'm on:

- Writing for Interactive Media
- The Game as Literature
- Female Fandom (they realized I was a bit of a stretch being on this one)
- Getting the Most out of Gaming

Heee! You'll do great! :)

Any other Odyssey folk showing up for this one?

Thanks. :) The public speaking thing gets easier every time, and I'm overopinionated enough about games that I'm actually looking forward to the panels.

Odyssey folk, I'm not sure. I suppose I should ask on the list, but I've mentioned it here on LJ and my guess is that there aren't odfellows in the area.

I got a note from John Klima that the poem he bought will be in the next issue of Not One of Us. I don't think it'll be online, though.

That would be John Benson (moi), not John Klima:). Not One of Us #38, complete with your poem, should be going to the printer in about a week. As you surmised, it's hardcopy, not online.

I'm signed up for Gary Braunbeck's workshop...

Say hi to Gary for me. BTW, he has a story in The Best of Not One of Us.

Hi John -- holy crap, I apologize. There is no excuse for this, but really within a day of getting my reply from you I also got one from John Klima at EV, and my fried mind crossed them. But thanks for the update on Not One of Us -- and I didn't know Gary had a story in that collection! The workshop was terrific, and I'll convey your hello this evening at the Apex party.

I'm not offended. Congratulations on your EV acceptance. I had the odd experience today of having two poems I wrote in 1999 accepted at the UK e-zine Write Off. I should probably write some poetry in this millennium.
