Title:She Was Mine from the Beginning
Genre:Romance
Rating:PG
Stepping out of the shower, the two quickly got ready to head out to the company where they would be driven to their schedules.
"Do you have extra bed sheets? I'll go put them on before we leave," Yonghwa asked. He was already done getting ready and was just waiting for Seohyun.
"Um yea," she thought for a minute. "I'm pretty sure I have them on the top shelf in the closet outside," she replied. He walked out into the hallway and opened the closet. Reaching up to grab the extra sheets enclosed in the giant plastic zipper bag, he pulled it down carelessly. The bag came down but also brought with it a shoebox that fell over onto the ground, spilling all of its contents. Curiously, Yonghwa picked up all the things that were inside. He found seemingly old photos, browned on the edges. At closer look, the girl in the picture was Seohyun....she looked like she was 12 or 13.....and there was a boy, hand around her shoulder, kissing her cheek. Digging deeper, Yonghwa found even more pictures of them two, notes that he had written for her, and a ring on a cheap necklace that he had probably given her. On the back of each photo, Seohyun had written down where the picture were taken and what date it was.
February 27, 2001 Jinwoon and I hanging at the playground across school
Yonghwa looked at every single memory as he was putting it back into the shoebox. Putting the entire thing back up onto the top shelf, he discovered 3 more shoeboxes in the back. He jumped and brought the 3 boxes down, looking at the name written on each box. Jung Jin Woon ,Cho Kyuhyun , Lee Minhwan.
God....these were all her previous boyfriends?? Yonghwa thought to himself. He flipped through each box quickly, skimming through the contents as fast as he could. It seemed like she was never without a boyfriend since middle school. It didn't really surprise him though...even back then, Seohyun was already stunning. Putting everything back, Yonghwa returned the boxes back onto the shelf and brought the bedsheets back into the room.
"Are you ready? I'm going to put these on," Yonghwa said. Immediately, Seohyun noticed that there was something different with his demeanor. His voice sounded strained, like he was trying to sound normal.
"I'm ready, here let me help you."
"No it's fine. I got it," he said quickly. Seohyun's eyes widened. Just over 1 hour ago they were making love on the bed, then he was the sweetest boyfriend comforting her, so why was he snapping at her now?! Grey swirls flew around Seohyun's head as she tried to figure out what in the world was going on. She watched him silently move around the bed calmly tucking the sides of the sheets under the bed. Tilting his head towards the doorway, Yonghwa indicated that they were leaving. He grabbed his keys and put his wallet and cellphone in his pocket before heading out. He didn't say a single word to her. Seohyun had no choice but to follow him out.
The car ride to the company was utterly silent. Both of them were deep into their own thoughts so neither realized that the other person wasn't talking either. Luckily there wasn't a third person in the car or else it would have been an excruciatingly painful car ride for that person. Seohyun was still trying to understand what happened. Maybe he got a phone call from someone? But she didn't think she heard him talking to anyone. No....no that can't be it. Text message? Seohyun rubbed her temples in frustration. On the other side of her, Yonghwa was still thinking about her past. How much did he really know about her? He knew everything that she showed and told him since they met, but the topic of her past never came up often. Images of her in the arms of other men floated around his head, so much that he had to struggle to concentrate while driving.
Yonghwa pulled into the basement parking garage and as they were walking to the elevator, he felt Seohyun's hand pull him back.
"Ok, tell me what's wrong. Why are you acting like this?" Seohyun asked trying not to remain calm.
"Like what? Nothing's wrong," Yonghwa answered coolly. His eyes weren't looking directly her. Seohyun let out her breath and dropped his hand. In long, quick strides, she walked passed him and went to hit the elevator button. As soon as the elevator reached their floor, she exited quickly to grab her stuff. She expected him to walk the opposite direction to meet up with his manager but for some reason, he trailed behind her, though still not saying a word. He stood outside her cubicle and watched her collect all their makeup equipment. He knew she was starting to get fed up with him and he really wanted to tell her what was bothering him, but he didn't know how or what to say....so he thought it was better to just not say anything.
"Ahh manager hyung!" Yonghwa suddenly said looking up.
"There you are, Seohyun-sshi, do you have everything, we need to go now," the manager said running up to them. "Yonghwa-sshi, come with me first." He patted Yonghwa on the back and walked off.
"Uh....I'm going to go first," Yonghwa said quietly to Seohyun. She gave him a curt nod and saw him walk away out of the corners of her eye.
Seohyun met up with the other make up artists and the four left with some of the other staff members in a separate van. Coming to the commerical shooting site, they hurriedly went to the dressing room and arranged their equipment.
"What's up Seohyun~ah!" Minhyuk said walking into the room.He pulled Seohyun aside out of earshot right after. "Uh.....do you know what's up with hyung?"
"I have no idea," Seohyun said shaking her head. "Was he being weird?"
"I don't know. He wasn't talking to either of us in the van and completely ignored our questions."
Seohyun sighed and rubbed her neck. "Ok, I'll figure it out, don't worry. Thanks for letting me know Minhyuk~ah. Why don't you go sit down, Eunmi will get your makeup started."
Jungshin walked in after and shot Seohyun a worried look before taking his seat in the next chair over. Yonghwa came in last and smiled at Seohyun. His smile looked.....almost sad...like he was forcing it. She pointed to the chair in front of him and he sat down.
"Soojin ah, I need just a touch more shadow on the outer edges of his eyes," Seohyun said through the mirror where she could see Jungshin's face. She got to work herself on Yonghwa after. Tilting his head up, she could still sense his eyes follow hers as she worked but the feeling was just not the same today. 15 minutes later, she was satisfied with how he looked. "Mm..you're done," she said patting his shoulder. "Go change." She handed him the outfits that had come for the shoot.
"Gomawo Seohyu~ah," he said before getting up and leaving. When Jonghyun, Minhyuk and Jungshin left afterwards to change they both gave her a small squeeze on the shoulders on the way out.
"Unni, is there something going on between Yonghwa oppa and you?" Eunmi asked.
"Hmm? No there's nothing going on," Seohyun lied. She walked away still deep in thought about Yonghwa's condition and found herself in the next room over where the filming was going to occur. The camera crew was still setting up their equipment and the director was talking to the people in charge of the lightning and backdrop.
"Here, sit down," Yonghwa said suddenly behind her. Seohyun turned around and saw that he had brought up a chair for her.
"Oh thanks."
"Only look at me okay?" he said with a soft smile before jogging over to the director. Seohyun was at a complete loss after Yonghwa left her. Just what exactly was going on in that head of his??
Throughout the shoot, Seohyun did exactly as he said. She focused all her attention on him and him only. The way he lighted up as soon as he was in front of the camera, the way he charmed all the staff members around him, and the way he captured the hearts of millions with his dazzling smile. In her head, she mentally went through what happened earlier. He was fine when they came out of the shower....he was fine while he dressed....he was fine when he went outside to get the bed sheets.....he was not fine when he came back in. So what happened in between? She stared so hard at him trying to figure it out that she could've burned holes through his shirt. Suddenly...two hours later, when the shoot was almost over, she realized where everything had gone wrong.
Seohyun gasped softly.
The boxes.
That had to be it. Nothing else could explain his behavior.......
