A universe where memories are stored in every tear drop. So people rarely ever cry because if they do they might forget something really important. Crybabies make up for it by stories their tears in bottles and when they are done crying, they give themselves their memories again. Ok but can you imagine a Peter/Brockdorff ship in this universe? Like...Brockdorff would be so careful to never forget anything and paranoid about like...his memories getting stolen by black market peddlers or whatever, that he basically hasn't cried since the age of like five xD ...And then the coup happens and its the first time he cries since childhood and doesn't even give a damn because forgetting all of this seems like the only thing that could keep him from going crazy.

Livejournal didn't tell me you replied to this?????? Aghh. Girl. Paul would probably be a disaster because he's such a crybaby as a kid and then after the coup he tries not to cry because he's kinda afraid of forgetting his dad, but then he's still a kid so it kinda only partially works. And Catherine gives him all kind of shit about it because SHE doesn't cry - like how irresponsible to express feelings when if can lead you to forgetting something. But then she figures that maybe you forget more the things you were specifically thinking about when you're crying or related things so sometimes when Paul gets on a soapbox about his dad, she purposefully provokes him to anger because she knows that when Paul's mad that's the one time he can't quite control his tears, so she hopes that enough of this and he'll just kinda forget Peter completely. Doesn't really go how she planned though.
