“Anyways, um, I don’t have any ideas. If you wanna play a couple games and let me beat you, we can go out to eat or something after. I kinda forgot to eat at lunch.” A jittery feeling in his stomach made May anxious as hell to see his new boyfriend.

Please, he prayed silently. Don’t let me just be a substitute for Charles. Last nights play at Sam’s house all well and good, May suddenly didn’t want to be too close to Jay. He didn’t want Jay kissing him, touching him, and comparing him… shaking his head, he swallowed.

“And you get to pay. I don’t get paid for babysitting Josh’s little sisters until Wednesday.”

"I'm glad you didn't get botulism from their mutant green bean casserole, at least," Jay laughed over the phone. Huh. He'd have to ask if he could go with May the next time his boyfriend babysat for the twins.

He wasn't sure he trusted Josh around Metis. Even if the start of this had been to make Josh and Charles jealous, Metis was still Jay's boyfriend.

Jay swallowed several unpleasant thoughts, trying to keep his voice light. "I can pay, no problem, moocher. But I can't promise you'll win. You think Jigglypuff's so tough? Just wait till I play Kirby. I'll see you in a few, sweetheart."

Jay wasn't sure if the nickname was teasing or serious or both.

Metis had to admit, of all the nicknames Jay had pasted across him, sweetheart was the only one that made his heart stutter a little in his chest

Jay smiled at the parental unit, hoping that if there was ice cream, at least his wouldn't be melted. May's mom was, admittedly, pretty nice for a mom. After all, she was the one who let Jay in so he could witness Metis acting absolutely adorkable. Yep. Adorkable. Just like how Metis was molestable, even if that was a bad thought to have in a house where the parental unit was still at home.

Metis hadn't noticed Jay yet, so Jay got to see him looking himself over like a show pony. metis examined his teeth so meticulously. Jay really didn't think Metis needed to do any of that, but just knowing that he did anyway made Jay smile.
