RIP MJ

I've known that name since I was three. The king of pop.   R.I.P.

:'( I didn't realize how much it would upset me.

It is upsetting and shocking because it was so unexpected. Farah Fawcett had been battling cancer for some time, and it was obvious in her special last month that she didn't have long to live, so I was a little saddened but not surprised by the news of her death. But when I first read about M.J.'s death, I couldn't believe it -- I was sure it was a hoax. My best friend was on the phone five minutes later, asking me if I had heard and if I knew if it was true, and while I was talking to my friend, my daughter called on the other line to ask the same thing...none of us could believe it.

I'm old enough to remember both these iconic figures in their heyday. It's sad that Michael's genius and accomplishments were overshadowed by his legal troubles, and that Farah will be remembered more for her hair and swimsuit poster than for the serious, breakthrough acting roles she tackled later on in movies like "The Burning Bed" and "Small Sacrifices."

May they both rest in peace.

Yeah, he was so young, I couldn't believe it. And a lot of people have been cold about Jackson's death because of the accusations and legal issues he faced.

I cried a little when I found out. His music really was revolutionary for his time. And I can sympathize with a sensitive soul like him. Maybe he died from a broken heart.

I didn't know much about Farah Fawcett, but I hope that she, like I hope for Michael, rests in peace. <3

I too have been shocked by some of the cold and right-down cruel things some people have said about him in the wake of his death.

I wonder if people even remember that he was cleared of all charges, and all the good he did for others and the many people he helped. It is a very tragic ending to what was once a brilliant and inspired life.

Some people are just too sensitive to live in this world, and maybe this world doesn't deserve them.

P.S. I'm glad you like my icon. It's so true, so many of the people I like best live 'inside my computer,' so to speak. :)

Yeah, I heard some very cruel things, too.

I've heard speculations that he killed himself. That would make sense, considering that he was in good health leading up to his death. It would also be really tragic.

Maybe this could teach the world to be a bit more sensitive.

I'll play the cynic -- it was coming. He didn't take very good care of himself, and think of all that surgery.

:''( *sniff*

50 is still quite young. I would understand if it were a drug overdose, but he was in reported good health leading up to it. I think it was a suicide.
