Jay really liked this guy.

I think this letter is Pretty hot even if you're like me and don't really know who he is.

E! was seeking video and the licencing rights to re-enact the death of Dimebag Darryl to use in an upcoming 25 Most Chilling Hollywood Murders special , and went to publicist Jane Hoffman. Her response ( Read more... )

That murder happened down the street from me. It was a HUGE deal when it happened here, I wasn't even at the show, and I still get chills everytime i think about it. Even I wouldn't be able to stand watching that on TV, and I can't even imagine what the friends and family of those who were killed or the people who saw this happen would feel if they saw it on TV being reinacted.

are they also going to reinact John Lennon? Marvin Gaye? This is totally distasteful, and while i don't see a huge problem with the special as a whole,it's only natural to talk about the deaths of those that we've lost. but, i think reinacting the murders of ANYONE is wrong.

I wouldn't mind Discussion and maybe Pictures (i.e. crime scene photos), but reenactments would hit a deeper chord.

the type of reenactment they mean, most likely is the gritty. blurry, shaky camera, Unsolved mysteries, snippet. They'd probably do som snall segements of what happened since they isn't actual archival footage.

we are too obseesed with weird shit like this. It's not a good sign for society.

I mean I've heard of him since he died, but I wouldn't have known who he is beforehand.

I think he was in pantera, a bannd whose music i've never heard and only know of their existance because of seeing their names on shirts and Beavis and butthead.

*shrug*

Dimebag Darryl was the guitarist for Pantera. HIs guitar stylings combined with Phil's vocal talents helped create Pantera's signature sound. A band whose music you've never heard simply beacuse their heyday was in the 90's and you've never really struck me as a metal head. His death was a great blow to the music community.

I suggest you should hear some Pantera. I reccommend the song "Hollow" I believe it's on Vulgar Display of Power album.

That is absolutly brilliant. I'm not a big fan of Darrel or Pantera, but I understand the impact that event had. I felt sadness because a man that was revered as one of the best guitarists ever, as well as a trailblazer for metal, had died- not only died but had been murdered. On stage.
