That looks like a really worthwhile and enjoyable trip.

You don't have to go from being edge to hammering back beers. It's just about the mentality. If you have an anti-drinking mindset then sure, social functions with alcohol will make you feel like, and be, an outsider. But if you just choose not to drink and accept that other people will, you can really enjoy yourself despite their potentially stupid decisions.

It has been!

I can enjoy people despite their decisions. I really can. I have before. My point is that I am bored and not having any fun 95% of the time. Meanwhile, 99% of my generation is for the most part being social and at least trying to 'live life to the fullest'. By participating in the stupid habits of the majority, they are united and given opportunities to meet other people, constantly be in groups of people, and wind up having adventures where they are free from inhibition, shame, and consequence.

"Meanwhile, 99% of my generation is for the most part being social and at least trying to 'live life to the fullest'."
--I'm trying to do this. Without drugs and alcohol.

"By participating in the stupid habits of the majority, they are united and given opportunities to meet other people, constantly be in groups of people, and wind up having adventures where they are free from inhibition, shame, and consequence."
--Yes and no. For some people that whole statement is true. But for most you can participate in 'stupid habits' and have a good time and still have shame, inhibition, and consequences. I've been going to a lot of clubs lately to dance; the club scene is lame but dancing is really fun, and once I stopped focusing on the lame guys and the drunk-off-their-ass girls, and the asshole bouncers and all that shit, I was actually able to really enjoy myself.

Think about it this way -- if everyone else actually is shitfaced, then why should you have any inhibition or shame anyway? If that's the case, no one is going to notice or care ( ... )

Ben, thank you. You seriously helped me a lot with this comment and I'm almost definitely going to stay edge now.

Ever consider taking up a career in motivational speaking?

If you go to any SUNY school, it should probably be this one.

Well, I haven't drank ever in my entire life. And the latter half has seemed significantly less fun than everyone else's.

Like I told you on AIM, be safe and have more fun.

Don't go home yet.

You'll still feel lonesome and not being having as much fun as you are now.

THAT GIRL IS SO CUTE. OH MY GOSH. <33

I don't know. Either way, I'm alone. If I go home, I'm alone because I'm alone. If I keep moving around, I'm around tons of people who are together which makes me feel even lonelier. I'm so confused about what I should do!

And yes. omfg. That girl is so fucking adorable.

I love Purchase, Stefan and Jon are really awesome people, when I visited Marina there last April I felt so at home with them and the rest of her friends.
BTW The "graffiti Removal Fail" is Marina's. I'd know her tag anywhere.

Is the Julie you're staying with Julie Mulderig?
Just curious because I know her too.
*it's a small world after all*

Yes! They're so friendly. Being around them is like a big hug. Marina, by the way, is ridiculously cute in person.

No, this is Julie Vanderlee. But either way, it's still indeed a small fucking world after all.
