This is beautiful. I had to stop and take a deep breath so many times because I just kept getting caught in the emotion you so vividly painted.
She lifted her fingertips to his cheek, and neither said anything as she wiped at the tears staining his skin. Her eyes were piercing blue in the dark, mesmerizing still, and he felt drawn to her, now more so than ever before.
That image is haunting by itself, but the addition of how he's still drawn - maybe now more than ever - makes everything even more vivid, more real.
"More accurately, he talked about the intuition of older couples, and-" She trailed off, and the dull ache in her chest became piercing. An air of desperation slid into her voice.
*sighs* I love the emotions just seeping in there.
Brennan shook her head vehemently. "No, Angela, it's not about a chance. It's about my inability to be the person Booth needs."
"Booth needs you, sweetie."Perfect use of Angela. Not pushing or prodding her, but giving her the facts, showing Bren what she already knows on some ( ... )

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! The ending of the ep - actually, the ep as a whole - just provided so much fic fodder I couldn't resist. :)
I felt that in that moment, when he finally verbalized everything he'd been feeling for so long, it became even more real for him, so I thought it fitting that he'd need her more, not less, after she rejected him.
I love Angela, and I was so glad I could use her here. At one point while I was writing this, I thought about how this could easily be a Brennan/Angela friendship story rather than a B/B. Really hope Angela gets to help Brennan work it out on the show.
Not pushing or prodding her, but giving her the facts, showing Bren what she already knows on some level.
I think this is exactly what Brennan needs!
Episode killed me dead.
Thanks again, Liz. ♥

Sorry, Lucy but M and I are just on the same page right now. And she's pretty much already written everything I probably would have, had I gotten here first.
And thanks for turning the whole little bit of optimism shining through in post 100 ficcage to something happy yet undeniably realistic. ♥

Thank you very much, BP! I love my angst as much as I love my happy endings, so bring on the angst, too!

The thing I find so tragic about B/B's relationship is that both are so unsure, and neither really thinks they're good enough for the other. Because they hold each other in such high regard, each seems to think that their own flaws would not be a good match for the other's qualities.
I love Angela, and I feel like they could use her more than they have. I was so glad to find out that Brennan consulted Angela on the things in her book, because for me, that paints a clear picture of their relationship and actually really shaped the way I tried to write Brennan and Angela here.
Thank you very much, M! ♥
