Aww, poor Jim. I love that Bones doesn't even get up, it's so realistic.
In regard to your question, I have a folder with everything I've written and then I make sub-folders in that for the specific fandom and/or pairing, keeping the documents in their respective folders.
Haha, that's great! I am glad it's realistic, I wasn't sure if I was pushing it a little.
Ahh, organizing by pairing is popular it seems! I used to do it by fandom and then story, if it had multiple parts, and then lengths drabble/ficlet/oneshots etc. I didn't do that or even anything vaguely like organize when I got my new computer. Regretting it now!
*claps* I didn't read many of the hangover fics so \o/ yay!
andd..honestly, I've got a fandom folder in which is a ST folder in which are several folders labeled by pairings/characters. and if the pairings earns too many .docs I put a "completed" folder within that It keeps things somewhat organized --but if you only write one pairing it might be problematic *shrug*
Italics are subfolders in the one folder, arrows are subfolders within. I tend to put brackets around folder titles that I want at the top all the time. Obviously I have a lot more subfolders. Like Document Nonsense has, school, applications, publishing, brochures, work, etc.
Wowie kaplowie, you've got waaaaay more than I do. Mine is the default Documents folder, which has everything in progress /needing to be finished/posted/etc, and then a folder named "Finished Stories" for my finished fics (obvs). Normally I am better about it but for some reason I have very much lacked on that. Oh, I also have a "School Stuff" folder plus an "Uh" folder that has all the stuff I don't think I'll finish in it, haha.
My old "saved fanfiction" folder is a mess! Started before the invention of Delicious It has My Harry Potter, Peter Pan, Labyrinth, Gargoyles, The Secret Garden, Dr. Who, Stargate Atlantis, Howl's Moving Castle, and Ruroni Kenshin fanfics all saved willy nilly. It's AWFUL. Like 500+ stories with no organization.
Yeah. All of my friends growing up were computer geniuses. I picked up their organizational skills in that department. Which is nice, and also random. You should see our audio and video files (Me is music NERD). I think I have..what...um...1700Gigs of stuff on hrrm. 3 laptops. 3 internal HDs and 2 external ones. OH MY GOD I SOUND CRAZY. *Derp*
Also school as a literature major was crazy-sauce. With all the projects and papers I had going I subfoldered like crazy.
I just name my fics something not especially clever and dump them in the right folder - I have a writing folder, which has a fanfic folder in it, which has a folder for each of my fandoms.
Hahaha, mine are named so terrible. I have like a ton named 'idkwat' I think I am up 'idkwat8' now. Then some I name like 'gonnagittabrandnewday' which is irrelevant to everything. Or like that Han/McCoy one: 'hansaysdomccoykids.' I am whacked.
Uum. My fics are organized by; 'in progress' and 'finished'. Within 'finished' I have two subfolders: 'keep' (aka the ones I can stand to reread, or the more recent ones) and 'toss' (which is the old ones that I cringe at, but can't bear to delete).
I should probably have subfolders in my 'in progress' folder, but eh.
BTW, are you crossposting your Ship Wars fics to fic comms like kirk_mccoy? I'm undecided whether or not to do that myself.

That sounds efficient. Well, I do have some different pairing fics sitting around but not enough to constitute their own folder. Thanks for sharing!

For organizing my folders usually go like this>
[Document Nonsense]>[Writing]>[Fanfiction]>[StarTrek]> [WorksinProgress][Worksposted][Drabbles][Ideas][Malarky]
