The first thing that comes to mind with this image is Zeus presenting himself to Leda as the swan.

I like this a lot. Very appropriate matching of animal and character. I like her outfit and hair/ornaments too.

Beautiful. A nice 'fairytale' look to the painting. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Ygraine looks so delicate and otherworldly. I love her intense blue eyes and beads...just like Arthur's eyes are fabulously blue (I've always been jealous that I didn't inherit the blue of my Father's eyes...about the same colour as Bradley's....sigh...I got my mother's Hazel instead). The technique for her gown is very pretty especially with the little Celtic Band at the neck. I really like her coronet (I hope Gwen gets one of those).

When I first saw it I had a vague remembrance of a legend that I couldn't remember until I googled it...of the swan maiden. A story something like the Celtic Selkie legend. Now that I've read the comments though I agree more with Cabbitattack that it's more Zeus/Leda-like.

Wow. I want to say something about the swan but I cannot. look. away. from that translucent nightgown. *is shallow* Gorgeous.
