Love the card. The eggs in it are so blue. Very pretty.

I really like it, too - Joanna really captured them in such a vivid way, I feel like I could reach into the card and pick one up.

We went to see a discount Sunday matinee of The Eagle and had a very enjoyable time... I admit we didn't watch with too many of our brain cells activated, but the scenery was very pretty (especially the parts filmed in actual Scotland, and Jamie Bell) and the story had good flow. I think you might enjoy the heck out of it too - especially as good watching-while-drawing fodder.

EAGLE MOVIE SPOILER HERE zephre March 3 2011, 17:27:31 UTC
I have heard great things about Jamie Bell in it, and the scenery, and also TBH Mark Strong is one of those character actors I line up for. :)
So perhaps I'll get to it soon.

I do find it EXTREMELY disconcerting to discuss it with folks who haven't read the book because apparently the stories are so incredibly different that areas of overlap are few and far between and might be confined to the names and ranks. ;)
The spoiler that Marcus gets offered a command of the re-made Ninth at the end REALLY bothered me, but I'll just have to see it and go into it as a separate entity altogether. ;)

Oh bum! I guess it just wasn't on people's radar as a thing that shouldn't be spoilered? Now you've gotten me curious enough about the book to add it to my to-read list...

Adding this here, even though we've already discussed it...
I went looking for spoilers, so it wasn't being spoiled that distressed me so much as the egregious and strange departure from the book. ;)
I understand that the movie!verse is quite, quite different, and film!Roman attitudes are never as realistic as book!Romans could be, because it would be too weird. People deal better with foreign mores in books, and this is just an action buddy film in tunics, if I gather correctly.
:D
