Ok, this is me caught up on my Latin homework (for the moment) and continuing the Top 5 Meme.  I'm going to try to knock out several in one block this time.  I am saving the crafty / art ones until I have the time to actually sit with my various sites and portfolios and things.  Plus I took photos of the first sophisticated doll I ever made, when I ( Read more... )

Stash! Nom nom nom. Didn't realize you'd been back -- lucky girl.

You didn't have a single Alcott character, which shocks me. And can I get some Anne Shirley love?

I did spend some time pondering Alcott's collected works, but although I love her and her stories, none of her characters really jump out to me as favorites, all-time favorites. The stories are ensemble casts, almost always, and although Polly is one of my favorites in An Old-Fashioned Girl, I still couldn't quite get behind her for this, nor Rose in the Cousins books. I think Alcott is, in her way (in her YA stuff), a bit too moral-happy for my "all-time favorites" list.

And I've never been a big fan of Anne Shirley, I read the books and enjoyed them, and saw many a TV spin-off, but it wasn't something that stuck with me.

Now, favorite books or stories would have different outcomes. Little Women would pop up there, and so would Dune, even though neither of them produced a favorite character. :)

OMG I love what a vivid memory you have of places you've visited and enjoyed! *admires your brain*

I totally need to see Moon one day, I've heard good things about it for sure.

Maybe a future meme could be posting photos of random places I've been (as documented in my shoebox, or possibly already on Flickr), and writing stories about whatever it is. That could go on for months... and it feeds my need to talk about me, my need to write stories, and my photo-posting! ;)

I do think Moon is quite amazing. :) I saw it on cable at my parents' house well after its release, and it was still good!

What, not San Francisco in your top five?! =P I really didn't know you've traveled to that many countries, wow. =D

My rents and I so didn't expect the ending to Moon. I don't think they fully got it. But wow, that was a punch. XD Still need to see Inception.

And I love that the majority of your fantasy ones are 80sish movies. Those were all my fave when I was a kid. Oddly enough, LOTR I can't bring myself to watch again and again... It's a fantastic trilogy but I think how it ultimately ends bothered me so it dampens the everything that preceded it for me a bit.

And woo for snupin cliches. =D Yes Remus having a spine is always a fave of mine. XD

To be honest, I didn't get to do much in San Francisco, so while it's a lovely city, it was mostly the hotel and nearby restaurants. That said, it was a fantastic experience, and Azkatraz was awesome. :D

does the ending of LotR in general bother you, or something specific about the movie? ;)

Remus + Spine = OTP. LOL.
