Caterpillar Friend

This little guy fell onto my sleeve while we were having lunch on an outdoor patio.  After my initial shriek (there's something alive on me!) I retrieved him to a napkin and then put him back on the tree, from which point he booked it at an impressive pace up the trunk until he was way up into the leaves again when we left

Well, sounds like you correctly identified him right off as "some big brown moth"...

But it does pay to check. I kept knocking these really ugly rapacious caterpillars off my passionflower. Turns out they are a butterfly... Ugly 'pillars, but, you know, butterfly....
