Wow. Congrats, man. Thats big news. Addiction is a bitch. I'm three months (on the 10th) without sleeping pills after an eight year addiction. Ouch.

*Back pats* Keep up the good work! =)

Been sleeping for shite lately, but I'm doing what I can. Not smoking must be a killer though. Thank God I only smoke when I drink. *winks*

constantly. i have even managed to stay away while drinking at parties and such, though i can't stay out on the porch for more than a minute before i have to run away.

ohhh, so proud of you! It is really hard and sometimes takes sooo many attempts. I found that after a month it got 3000 times easier. I know it seems like a long time but when you get there you will feel amazing about yourself! yeah, yeah, yeah! If you need and encouragement just write in your journal and let me know! And yeah, drinking kinda got a lot less when the quitting smoking thing happened. (I think my body likes being healthy)

dammit it better get easier. i think one of the main things i'm interested in seeing is that if i know i can quit this, i wonder what else i can will myself to do. (not normally a highly willed/motivated person)....

yes, yes... it's weird how things that are really bad for you are easier to do than to quit.

like people and drugs and food and drinking. ahhh..haa.

yay! go jake.

how are you going about this? are you using any prescribed method, like trade-offs or self-rewards?

zyban, extra money, massive guilt, chewing gum, heavy drinking. pretty much it. no time for rewards this semester.

here's some of bryan's famous unsolicited advice: as a reward you could calculate the amount that you would ordinarily spend on cigarettes and then go blow it at the end of the month on something that is purely pleasurable: massage, loose women, comic books, heroin... a road trip.

yeah, i kind of am i guess. at least i notice there's more money floating around, i buy groceries instead of smokes....and instead of 40%, 40%, 20% smokes, booze and food, i'm now up to 60% booze, 40% food (by cost, not volume) getting there. i like your unsolicited advice. hey did you know that there are all these beautiful women in bellingham? who'da guessed. a roadtrip sounds fabulous but hopefully by the summer i'll have gotten my recent drinking antics down to a repectable level so you can introduce me to all of them.
