Well, circumcision has long been a way to stop young boys from masturbating, since it just doesn't feel as good after they cut off all the sensitive stuff. FGM has similar roots, of course.

Not that I actually want to have a conversation about all the non-consensual slicing of infant and child genitalia that is so commonplace in our society, because I find it triggering on a whole other level. But anyway.

A lady recounted a success story about someone she knew, how this super-parent had weaned her three-year-old daughter off masturbating with positivity by asking if she had to go potty every time she started it and never shamed the little girl. Then, a month later she had a talk with the daughter, and explained that touching that place is only for adults when they're married.
Seriously, the world is a cold, cruel place, let her at least rub one out once in a while...

To be perfectly honest, I always thought you Americans circumcize because you're too sensitive about genitals to teach boys to wash their peens.

That's the main excuse given nowadays, yeah. I think there are a lot of reasons it has been done throughout history, but one of them is definitely to reduce sexual sensation. It just blows my mind that so many Americans think natural selection made some kind of mistake by creating foreskins, to the point that they snip them off newborns as if they were extra fingernails. Foreskins are such amazingly pleasurable things!

That success story is sad and fucked up. I could see telling her to only do that when she's alone in her room with the door closed, but like, way to take away the whole idea of getting to know her own body.

I read about people thinking foreskins are gross (I read about dicks a lot), and never having seen a circumcized dick IRL, as all the dicks around me have always been natural, I always wonder what the big deal is. Like, how is having skin more gross than having scars where the dick's been flayed (I know circumcision isn't really flaying the dick)? Is it like, "mm, scars, so badass, so metal"? I think someone said it makes a dick look bigger. How can it look bigger? It doesn't bend light. It's not some sort of optical illusion ( ... )
