Not dead

I haven't updated in a good while. Mostly because nothing much has happened, I guess. I go to class, I come home and sit at the comp. I cook myself something to eat and drink copious amounts of cold coffee latte. I email with Koushi. I stay up ridiculously late ( Read more... )

my alma mater is not even on that list, which makes sense given that it's an art school. i did apply and was accepted to new york university (number 32!) on an academic basis, but didn't bother applying to the art college therein because i got into my school in chicago instead. too bad that's useless to tell potential employers who want to know why i don't have a university GPA. i'm glad i didn't get graded on my art... i'm sorry you hate waseda, but at least you're in tokyo hating it, right? XD

it's nice to hear that you are meeting more japanese. more people to drink with when we go out to the bar? XDD i better actually learn some japanese before that happens, though...

i'm pretty sure i read somewhere those rankings are meaningless for undergrad, anyway...

The ranking is meaningless, period. But when you're incredibly frustrated by the way a certain institution works (namely, how it works differently from what you're used to), there's nothing better than being able to pull out something like this to stress your point.

"Now look here, this is not how we do things at my university! And look at this ARWU ranking list for 2009! Here's my university, now let's see where this piece of crap school is on the list! Oh look, here it is! Near the fucking bottom! NOW WHO'S RIGHT AND WHO'S WRONG, HMM?! BITCHES!"

Yes, when you're really frustrated, it just doesn't make any difference how smug of an asshole it makes you look.

aaaand since i know you are effing brilliant, being stuck at a > 200th-rate school must make you want to stab your eyeballs with something sharp with frustration and boredom. if you can ever bring yourself to do it, i'd be very interested to know exactly why it sucks so bad. in part because i might end up teaching in the japanese educational system...

lol, I haven't heard anything about Nao in awhile, makes you wonder, huh? XD

Oh, and how goes the translation? I'm starting to get emails from worried people that we've died or something! haha

Nao's still the queen of my heart.

Uh... I'm afraid that you can tell them Waseda has indeed killed me. If not in body, then in spirit at least. I will get it done, I promise. Cross my heart...

Oh yeah. Hitomi's joining us at the con. More people with japanese skills, and this time with actual japanese skills.
