"Remain calm! No one panic!" Scrooge rapped his cane against the stone floor, trying to get attention. "There's plenty of room for everyone and plenty of amenities for those who are hurt! No one is to go anywhere alone! Safety in numbers, and all that!"

"Whazzat?" Scrooge turned to Klonoa. "Everything's going to be fine, I think. The king is out there with our finest, after all! This should be over by morning."

Suddenly, the castle seems to lurch. There's a loud grinding or squealing sound, like a machine breaking down. The lights flicker and then sputter out.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

If you stumbled over to the fountain where the little blue-robed critter was spotted you'll find a sizable gear on the floor.

People began to panic, and Magica grumbled, finding it harder to heal in the dark.

"I trust this is not supposed to happen... nor that Scrooge was cheap enough to forgo some lighting bills." She couldn't resist the little dig. It'd be the last one. Really.

"I'll keep healing them as best I can, but it would be easier with some lights."

Rosalina was quick to approach the area where the small being was located after the lights went out, afraid that the thing would make its getaway and harm an innocent person. With that, she moved forever and nearly stepped on a strange metallic object in dark. Alarmed, she withdrew her foot from the ground near it and stared down at what seemed to be something somewhat... shiny.

Wait, hold on, something shiny? Where did that come from?

She decided to take the risk and kneel down to check it out. A gear. A gear that looked much like something that would have come from the castle itself. It definitely seemed hefty, that was for certain, but where did it come from exactly? Did it have any connection to the sudden blackout?

"Everyone, I may have found something," She told the ones nearby. "Where could this possibly go?"

"Oh, dear." Kefka's voice came from the darkness, dripping with false sincerity. "If I didn't know better, I'd say someone's sabotaged the castle! Uweehee!"

The lantern light disappeared as the group disappeared into the castle. Kefka, apparently, did not care enough to summon up another one. In fact, he sat himself down at the fountain and

"And there goes our only hope!" He said mockingly. "Now we can only wait. I certainly hope there's nothing skulking about the shadows, uweeheehee!"

Yes, that was certainly going to calm all the refugees down.

Laura did her best to calm them down some more, occasionally looking at Kefka to give him a disapproved face. She still tried to keep attentive to the area around her, even if it was nearly pitch black.

"Ssskul-keen?" Pooh muttered the word a few times to himself, trying to pronounce it correctly. He didn't really know the meaning of 'skulking' but it contained 'skull' and Kefka mentioned it with shadows so it couldn't have meant something good.

He looked at the direction the others had gone, now engulfed in darkness. "I certainly hope they bring the light back soon."

Scrooge marched ahead, holding the lantern up to illuminate as much as he could as they descended the stairs into the lower levels of the castle. To be honest, he had never ventured down there before, and had no idea what to expect. But! He wasn't about to let fear get the best of him. He was sure they could handle whatever might be lurking down there.

Superman was close on Scrooge's flat heels, opting to hover down the staircase as opposed to walking. Less chance of treading on toes in the enclosed space.

Considering only one of the current group here at the castle knew him, he was surprised no-one had so much as asked him his name. But he was fine with it - so long as they were alright with letting him help. He scanned the walls with his X-Ray vision, checking for twists and turns and whatever they might bring with them.

You didn't need X-Ray vision to see the little white-robed figure dash by the doorway at the bottom of the stairs.

Rosalina followed closely, making sure to keep her eyes open as she went on. She definitely didn't need x-ray vision to see that thing go by, that was for sure. She managed to notice, and let out a soft gasp.

"Ah- I think I saw something," she spoke, pointing in the direction where it ran.
