Who: Ivy and anyone who wants to see how Zenithia screws up demon summoning
What: Ivy has a class and summons a demon to enhance her sword. It backfires, but it's all good in the end.
When: Sunday, midday
Where: Ivy's Classroom.
*The class is only lit by black and red candles today - there are no oil burners like usual, giving the already dark room an even eerier glow. The room's smell is incredibly strong; a mixture of frankincense, cinnamon and ginger, the result of burning incense sticks scattered all around the room in small metallic dragons. The desks have been moved to the end of the class and in a circle, students are allowed to go sit down there.
Ivy's intimating form is barely visible in the flickering lights, but it gives her almost a demonic appearance...which also happens to be the subject of today.
As the first student arrives, she has just finished drawing out in chalk the
summoning circle. She sets down a few crystals and the lines start to glow a light reddish hue.
After most of the students have arrived, she begins to pace around, speaking. Ivy doesn't waste time with introductions, and gets right to the point.*
There are two ways of summoning an entity or working with energy: Evocation and Invocation.
Spiritual evocation is summoning an entity whether it be a Demon, spirit, ghost or elemental and the being appears outside of the operator. When working with energy, the energy is always on the outside of the operator and never inside the body. With evocation, there is never a direct tie or connection.
However, today we will be dealing with Invocation. The summoned being enters the host or an object selected by the host, and endows them with their power. This can be extremely dangerous, especially if you are summoning a demonic being into yourself. Your voice may change and if you are not powerful enough, you will lose complete control to yourself.
The more powerful the demon, the harder it is to summon and the more dangerous it becomes.
However, invocation is not without it's merits. You can also use in specially imbued items, for example, my sword. Before coming to Zenithia, it had a demon, allowing me to use it much like a whip.
*Here she holds up her sword and releases the grip. The sword falls into a whip-like state but it doesn't float like it would normally. It just looks lifeless.*
The demon, however, sacrificed its life during a battle, rending my sword powerless and in the state you see now.
*Does Ivy sounds like she is regretting something? It's hard to tell. She coughs and continues.*
Today I will be giving you a demonstration of demon summoning. I am going to ask you to be on standby in case there are complications. I have been studying the magics here closely, but like everything else in life, the occult twists and moves in chaotic patterns.
If the demon tries to poss me, you have permission to kill me.
*She doesn't even flinch at her own suggestion. Cold.*
