it's always bothered me that in 'winter wonderland', they respond to a hypothetical question from parson brown with "no, man." that just always seemed like a rudely cavalier way to address a man of the cloth. blame my puritan upbringing, i guess.

also, the song 'santa baby' really creeps me out.

that santa baby thing has haunted me for years. the madonna cover from years ago somehow ups the creep-factor if only for the reason that she somehow sings in an even more acquiescient,betty-boop voice than whoever sang the original. also. kirsty alley has NO business singing that song to sell me furniture. NONE. Here is a song crying out to be covered by....pj harvey. Maybe she can do for it what the arab strap did for why cant this be love?

i never really thought of pj harvey as having a voice that would make any song less creepy.

not somuch less creepy....but differently, more tolerably creepy. Also,shes the least likely person, short of Nick Cave or Cannibal Corpse, to actually do a cover of santa baby,so itss kinda funny to think about.
