What is Zenderael?

Zenderael is an original character roleplay structured around two tiers of gameplay.

Two tiers?

Pay attention, this gets pretty meta.

The first tier is player characters. You play a person living Twenty Minutes Into The Future in the year 2050. Why 2050? Partly so we don't need to pay attention to current politics, but mostly for fun leeway with technology.

Player characters are normal people with normal lives. The one thing they all have in common is that they all play Legacy of Zenderael, a well-known MMO that encourages, but does not enforce, roleplay.

The second tier is alts. These are the characters your player character plays in the MMO. They can be RP characters or not, it all depends on what the player character would play. Is she a troll? Then maybe she RPs a godmoder that comes in and ruins everyone's scenes while giggling behind her screen when they get angry. Is he a serious RPer? Then maybe all his alts have in-depth detailed storylines going on, with an RP league running an ongoing story. Does she not RP at all? Then maybe her alts are just her avatars, the way she interacts with friends in another city.

There's plenty of freedom with how alts are run. It's up to you how you want your PC to handle their alts!

How is the game played?

There are separate communities for different interaction types. PC interaction--referred to as OOG, Out of Game--comes in two forms: there's the MMO's messageboard, where players can post to each other and talk about, well, anything; and there's logs, where face-to-face interaction happens.

Alt interaction--referred to as IG, In Game--comes in logs, only. All alt interaction is "face-to-face," so to speak.

OOG adheres to a strict ICA = ICC (In Character Actions bring In Character Consequences). Treat it as a down-to-earth, real-world setting, because that's what it is. Mods will step in to ensure ICA=ICC.

IG on the other hand is treated as RP inside the game. Mods won't police IG, because MMO RP is self-regulated. If you want an alt that runs around being an obnoxious godmoder, that's fine! If you want to play a character that completely ignores all of Zenderael's lore and be a werewolf when they don't exist, go for it!

Just keep in mind that other PCs might call yours out, since they're the ones who have to deal with the obnoxious behaviour. That also means, if your PC is the one being annoyed by the poorly played alts, you're free to to do the same. We trust players to be responsible enough to handle this sort of thing gracefully on an OOC level!
