For those who don't like sci fi TV to be gritty and didn't like Battlestar Galactica for that reason, may not appreciate the newest addition to the Stargate franchise, but for those, like me, who do and did, then you might.
Bad acting and scripting put me off Battlestar Gallactica. I may have just watched a particularly bad episode, one with all the subtletly of he-man. Where's Stargate Uni being shown?
Must have been. I can only think of maybe two or three episodes in the entire series run that I would consider poor. That said, due to the serial nature of a lot of BSG, if you watched an episode which relied a lot on the previous episodes and build-up, then no knowing what's going on, etc, can leave a poor impression. I've had that with other serieses in the past.
So far as SGU, you've missed the first two episodes, but the next episode (third part of the pilot story) is on tonight (13/10) on Sky One at 8pm. Hopefully there should be on the previously to get you going with it.
What can I say? Poor acting, poor script and not a little bit because coping with prophecy was done to death by Heroes. Basically, I don't find the script and characters enticing enough for me to tolerate the slow dribble of plot that will drag the story out over 20 odd episodes.
Well, considering Five has only shown three episodes so far I think it's a bit soon to deem the script as "poor", even if the acting is fairly mediocre. I don't think it has been enough episodes to say that it is a "slow dribble of plot" or not. I mean three episodes is not a lot and you're not going to get an amazing amount into the story in that time on any show.
I've not found the story to be slow, but as I said, it's three episodes in... how can you call it slow in just three episodes? Every episode so far as given more than a few clues and mysteries without once feeling as though it's leading me nowhere. It's exactly the pacing I expect. Lost didn't start to "drag" until the second series and even then they knew to start changing the direction and emphasis of the show enough that even though you didn't get all the answers you had enough to then take you in a new direction. Flashforward has established a very definite moment (29th April 2010, six months from the first episode) as being their focus point. They've essentially set
