Diamonds Are Certain Doom

Here in the bunker I like to think about money, admittedly somewhat like Smaug the Terrible deep within the Lonely Mountain. But unlike the Chiefest and Greatest of Calamities, I like to share what I know with my friends and the readers of this blog, and I don't like diamonds ( Read more... )

Did you know there is a company that will make a "created" diamond out of your dead grandma's ashes?

Now that's an heirloom.

I've heard of this, and *that* is something worth considering.

Morbid and creepifying, but at least there is *real* sentimental value, not just what the cartel *told* us our diamons are supposed to mean.

Actually, if you want morbid and creepifying, you should hear what happens to a body that's put into a "hermetically sealed" casket, which is sold as top of the line. Funeral directors sell you on this idea that somehow embalming and sealing will keep Granny from ever rotting or whatever, which is totally totally wrong.

Think about it. 20K for something to stick in the ground? That's what a top of the line casket sells for.

That's why our family goes for cremation. And ash scattering in places that are NOT graveyards. Pleah.

Although I do want a memorial stone stuck somewhere, with Sam Black Crow's "I Believe" statement (from "American Gods) on it...even if THAT costs 20K or more. Totally worth it to freak out future generations.

Oh yes, I have heard all about those "hermetically sealed" caskets. But what is done with dead bodies is a whole other level of morbid and creepifying. Of course, I want to have my head frozen to be re-awakened in a so-far-only-imagined future when they can 1) cure whatever killed me in the first place, 2) fix the problem of me not having a body anymore and 3) fix the damage being frozen does, so I am probably not the best one to bitch about "morbid and creepifying" actions :-D
