Friday, maigrey called me out for some sushi and I showed off the new GPSr. Turns out the sushi place wasn't far from one of the geocaches and we decided to swing by, just to see how using the GPSr features worked out. I started getting into geocaching myself last summer after I picked up a GPS unit for work. Maybe we'll run into each other in a geojournal sometime soon! Any local groups/sites you would recommend?

Well, there's geocaching.com, of course. And the Chicago Geocachers Yahoo group, which has an introductory cache as well. If your profile is accurate, you'll be near Pratt-Fall and Appleseed #1. Pratt-Fall was my first 'cache and a nice hike off the main route - Appleseed #1 is in the same trail area, but I was too done in by the off-trail wandering to do both of them. If this weather will get a little less brutal, I'll be going out more often.

Thanks for the Yahoo! pointer. I actually live near County Farm & Army Trail...but a coworker has mentioned both the Pratt-Fall and Appleseed ones, so I'll give those a shot.

Geojournal...sorry about that...that's what the folks who got me into it called the log books...
