Okay I have a question! Not about Sokka. But. When you email Important Translators what do you *say*? I have this problem ALL THE TIME with Important Classicists and often they are freaking having office hours and being my prof, so...what do you say and do you get nervous and do you just like email them cold? how did you meet them? omfg watch me flail.

my process involves a lot of procrastination and feeling awkward. HAHA.
Mostly I think of what I want to say, I sit on it for a while, I start a draft by writing it plainly in a friendly casual way, I think "would I send this to my teacher", I add thanks and greetings - I try to do it straightforward but friendly? SORRY BAD DESCRIPTORS. I can send you what I sent to translator-who-offered-to-help-me-when-I-met-her, or to translator-who-is-translating-my-book-wah, if you want to look at them?

I was starstruck at first, and then I was like "grr you've had seven years to translate this novel and you still haven't finished and you've been working on other projects? greedy!" :/ okay not exactly. but kinda. (oh god, I had to send the original author's daughter, who holds her estate, an email in Spanish. OH GOD. that's the real problem I've got, see, the foreign language thing D: )
