Medicine /= love

N: You got up early today.
Z: I'm just excited about my sleep study tonight.
N: You're not confusing medicine with love again, are you?
Z: No, sweetie. I'm pretty sure Stanford doesn't love me.

(For those unfamiliar with my family, my father expresses love through medical care)

I am never excited about a sleep study. They make me feel like a lab rat or that I've been abducted by aliens for overnight observation.

I am grateful that sleep medicine exists. That I can have a sleep study and that I can gain control over my sleep. But I am never excited about a sleep study.
