When I was twelve or so, I had this necklace.  It was a pair of near skeletal hands holding a crystal ball.  It reminded me of Carolyn, the way her hands looked before she died.  I don't know if it was a healthy thing or not... if it could even be measured by that metric.  But it was associated with an incredibly painful period of time in my life ( Read more... )

I don't know Laurie well -- just met her briefly at this con. But from what I hear from those who do know her, I'm not at all surprised that she made a piece that held that kind of peace and growth. I'm glad.

In other news, what is with the rule that I apparently can't see you for more than five seconds at WFC? It happened last year, too, and I don't think I approve. We must remedy this next year or whenever we're next at the same con, by planning lunch or something.
