Dodged Bullet

We went back to the old house last night to get some stuff, and discovered that a 14 year old had been shot in front of our old house Wednesday night. Apparently he fired into a crowd of people in some gang related thing, hitting two people. When the police responded, he turned the gun on them and they shot him.

Our old neighborhood was getting a bit sketchy, but like people dealing pot in our building sketchy, not people getting shot sketchy...

I love you guys... And what you are doing for your neighbor from hell is totally why I'm proud that you are my friends.

I know. I woke up when Charlie threw up (obviously) and I've been awake every since. I'm just to on edge to sleep.

At least with all of this, I think Charlie gets why I understood about the neighbor's dogs. Because as much as it may have been a hassle for us, those dogs being so psycho was what was keeping us safe a lot of the time. And what's still keep her safe.
