Hey, do you think Damien is gay? I sure don't know if he's gay! I mean, the Suauthors are soo sutble and soo not stereotypical to the point of insult! I really wonder if Damien is gay...

Hard to tell, but I think he might be.

Yeah, with such classic lines as this: "gayer than he usually looked (even though he is definitely gay)”, how could we ever know for sure? -_-

Seriously, Ms. and Mrs. Cast, stop it. It was annoying in the first book and it's annoying here. Yes, Damien is gay. We know that already. We don't need you to pound that fact into our heads every five seconds!

Would you believe me if I told you that it gets even more annoying before this book is over?

It's not mandatory, because Shaunee and Erin's parents both can't make it. Damien's parents show up because it's nearly his birthday and they want to give him his present (except that he's gay, as we're continually reminded, so they don't actually give him a present he likes). I have no clue why Zoey's parents show up. The best I can think of is that they're trying to make a good appearance for the community or something. That doesn't explain why Heifer pitches a fit in the middle of everything though.

I have to say, if the worst backlash Damien gets from his parents is (apparently) total denial, he's still fairly well off.

I really agree. I mean yeah, it sucks and is really stupid (seriously...paint supplies are un-manly?) but they still are clearly willing to act as parents and keep in touch with him.

Blergh. I really, really hope the beating over the head is going to die down, but something tells me that it isn't going to happen.

I'm very sorry. *offers a hard hat* You'll need it.

Thank you Cast ladies. Every single guy in my art classes MUST be gay because artistry is a femine attribute. This is despite the fact that one of the guys was dating one of the girls and they also talked about sports and listened to some really masculine type music. Oh! And their art work was masculine too! Oh! And the greats in art history are like, what... 90% male? Wow. I am so amazed at their geniousnessness. (Mispelling intentional on my part.)

I really had hoped that the Cast ladies were going to skip this particular stereotype when they had Damien be a fencing champ instead of being into theater. Turns out they went the same way, just on a different path. -_-

This sterotype makes me wonder how many guys who were told they were gay because they were feminine actually bought into it. You can be masculine and be gay too if you're male.

Well, apparently the Cast ladies go to Chick Flicks for their knowledge on homosexuality, so yeah...how much else they know is questionable.

You know, I keep forgetting that these guys are supposed to be vampires. It feels like I'm watching a really bad teen-sitcom where nothing really happens. /= It's weird.
