Right. Or give Patch a legitimate reason to have figured out that stuff about her, like a Sherlock Scan. We actually learn far later in the series that there's an angel detective roaming around (doing pretty much nothing, as par for the course). If Patch had played that role, this whole thing could have gone much better. It would have made more sense that we'd be expected to overlook him stalking her (he knew some supernatural being was trying to kill her and was shadowing her to ensure her safety), he could still be a cynical Sam Spade-type who re-learns about love through his involvement with her, it'd actually add a good mystery element, and it'd make it more believable that Patch was once a great guy and wants redemption.
