Updates From The Realm: Gabriel's Inferno - Group Recapping

It would appear that there is, indeed, interest in a group sporking/recapping of Gabriel's Inferno, so I finally sat down and got things set up for one! Those of you who saw my sign-ups for the Mortal Instruments group sporkings will be familiar with how this works. For those who haven't, it's very simple. I will have a list of chapters here, and

This confuses me a lot. Is there a trend now where crappy fanfiction is turned into published writing? Seriously, this is about the third or so that I've seen.

I weep for literature. My poor, poor love. ;_;

To the extent of my knowledge, three fanfictions were turned into published books for Twilight. The first was, of course, Fifty Shades of Grey. The second was this. The third was "Beautiful Bastard", which was taken from a Twilight Office!AU by the name of "The Office" (really).

I would actually say that of the three, this is the best. It's a damned low bar set, though.

I was also thinking of Mortal Instruments. At least that one, to my knowledge, existed before Twilight.

You know the worst part? As a library employee, sometimes I have to deal with these things. Just yesterday I had to handle a copy of Fifty Shades Freed, and I still feel dirty. D:

Ah, now I didn't count Mortal Instruments because they technically weren't *directly* lifted from fanfiction. You can certainly see the similarities, but Clare at least tried to pretend she was working in her own playground.

I mean, why the hell not ? It's going to be my first 'official' sporking of published material, so yeah.

I read through an online copy of the book already, and I think I'd like to have the first or second chapter. If not, just send whatever is left unassigned at my direction.

I definitely wouldn't mind doing two chapters. On retrospect, can I have chapter 3 and 4 ? Sorry that I didn't mention before, but I found those two particularly rage-inducing. If someone claimed them already or it's problematic to change, I'm fine with 1 and 3.

Oh, and is it all right if I spork the original fanfic this book is based on in my personal journal ?

I wouldn't mind signing up for one of the earlier chapters though I'd be unable to pick up a copy from my local library. I don't live in the right district so the local library I try to go to tries to make me run circles to get a library card, at least they did last I was in. I'd have to see about going back and trying again.
