Well, I have a comment about the cover. It WAS pretty, though when I first saw it I thought it was a guy being thrown UP into the air (which weren't exactly wrong since they had the model jump up using a trampoline to make the pose in the cover, but that's beside the point). I thought maybe the winged being was stupid enough to get caught up in a cyclone and ruined his wings or something. You know, since most "falling-to-death" scenes usually depict the person as falling head first.
Oh well.
I've heard this being mentioned many times over, but I really shudder to think what Patch was like BEFORE editing. A guy from a rape porn?
/I sincerely hope it's coincidence that one of her sons shares the same name as Cassandra Clare's brat of a Gary Stu/
Jace is a real name? *is ashamed* To everyone who's named Jace, I am so sorry. I repeatedly ranted about how stupid the name was in my sporkings and comments on "City of Bones." I really had no idea that anyone other than Cassandra Clare's despicable creation had that name. My apologies.
/From what I understand, Patch was even worse before the editing process./
Now I pity Emily Meehan. I hope that she didn't have nightmares while reading the original draft.
/It really is a beautiful cover, and I'm not being a smartass here. In fact, pretty much everyone has agreed that the cover is really nice, even those that hate the book./
Yes, I agree that the cover is cool and eye-catching. A pity that the actual book didn't live up to to the cover's expectations. Kind of like "Twilight" and its cover, huh?
Apparently it's a shortened form of "Jason", though I'm sure most people these days will associate it with CC's horrible Stu.
(Bit of mind-damaging information I discovered - apparently the Mundie Mom's site - the Mortal Instrument equivalent of Twimoms - has a lot of fans who also drool over Patch. Make of that what you will)
And yes, I feel very sorry for Emily Meehan. I also don't envy her having to point out to Fitzpatrick, who apparently doesn't grasp the concept of "dangerous, creepy stalker", how messed-up her creation is.
Late reply is late, but my step-brother's name is Jace. It's not short for anything. It's just Jace. That's actually the reason I never read the series. I couldn't picture the character without seeing my brother. :P
Thanks to Caleb Warnock and my fellow writers at Writing in Depth; I couldn't have asked for truer friends to make this journey.
How ironic that the group is called Writing in Depth, something many a Suethor fails at epically :P
It has been sheer fun working with Emily Meehan, my savvy editor,
BURN HER!!!! :P
I'm especially thankful that Catherine Drayton came into my life at just the right time.
That's so adorable, she thanked her life partner And yet I fail to see any mention of Mr Fitzpatrick… Or does she go by her maiden name or something, I'm confused :S
I'm so sick of all these damn Suethors who try and sound all 'young and hip' and speak in all these childish terms in their Acknowledgements pages! God, just like SMeyer and Cassandra Clare, grow up! Actually have some decorum and act your age when thanking people, especially when the people you work with have to be around your age, Fitzpatrick! >.<

I know, right?
"BURN HER!!!! :P"
No, she did manage to get Fitzpatrick to soften Patch somewhat. That's more than Meyer's editor managed
Fitzpatrick has a husband named Justin. Actually, on her website she says she has only one son, so I think "Jace" up there is her nickname for her husband.

Well you know what they say -- never judge a book by its cover I'm so sorry I couldn't resist
