Gnnnnnnnnnnnn~!! This is IRRITATING!!!!!!! This is the thing I do for my CRACK fanfics. Where I twist, warp, and wreck the universe so bad just so I can make the most impossible couple ever happen. What kind of people ARE these morons? When I complain about someone bothering me and almost stalking me, my friends tell me to avoid the person as much as possible AND NOTIFY THEM IF I NEED HELP.
Guys only give rides to girls they're romantically interested in? My ass! If that's the case, damn I must have gotten around in high school! Here I thought I was just carpooling with the various dudes I was partnered with for assignments, but I guess Fitzpatrick showed me.
Hahaha. True that about offering rides. I do not own a car and I cannot drive for the life of me, so whenever we have group outings, activities, or whatever, I'd need someone to come pick me up and drive me there. Often it would be a guy who offers a ride. So I must be very popular! XD

By that logic, if an older brother who had a car gave rides to his younger sister, he would be romantically involved with her. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't work like that.
Also, I hate these fake cops and want to smack them upside their heads. But I want to smack the author even more. This is just fucking CREEPY.
My dad drove my aunt to school soon after he got his license. He drove his friend and both of their dates to the prom. I suppose that in Ms. Fitzpatrick’s messed-up world, this meant that he was dating all of them. -_-
For the last two years of high school, I carpooled to and from school with my two best friends, one boy and one girl. Apparently, I'm way kinkier than I ever knew.
And I'd like to second the drivel by the cops while adding that ever single authority figure in this story is skeezy/unprofessional as hell. Why are all these grown-ass adults so interested in Nora's dating life? WHY?
"By that logic, if an older brother who had a car gave rides to his younger sister, he would be romantically involved with her. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't work like that."
And my dad is often the one who gives me rides to and from places. Freudian fun, ahoy! :D
Hmm, a run-down bar and arcade which is decidely not safe. Sounds like a perfect place for a date! And yes, Fitzpatrick spares no expense at making sure that we know it's the seediest, worst place around.
Well, what did you expect? *rolls eyes* Patch would surely loose all his bad boy cred if he took her somewhere classy. And I love how he brings Nora to this absolute dump to maintain his hardcore image and then ends up ordering two 7-Ups.
When I was sixteen, a hardcore date consisted of going to the old district after dark, climbing a roof where the police couldn't see and drinking cheap wine while appreciating the view. I realize that Fitzpatrick probably couldn't have it that way, because cheap wine wouldn't make its way past the editors (as opposed to, you know, stalking, molesting, threatening and the general douchebaggery). Still, I cannot help but cringe at a society in which stalking and molesting a girl doesn't even merit a shrug, but giving alcohol to a minor = OMG instant scandal.

Oh, of course. Because we all know that it’s far more important to shove your “bad boy” image in a girl’s face than to respect her feelings and wishes. *sarcasm*
It seems to me that Fitzpatrick has an extremely skewed idea of what counts as dangerous and what counts as simply “bad-boy” rebelliousness. She thinks that playing pool, riding a motorcycle, and ordering sodas at a seedy place are “rebellious” and “hardcore,” but somehow thinks that a boy sexually harassing, assaulting, and stalking a girl is simply what “bad-boys” (i.e. the “sexy” kind of dangerous) do.
"When did it become hugely popular in published fiction. When was this memo passed around. Because I missed it."
Presumably it became popular when publishers noticed that it would sell.
Sadly, it probably is older than we think. If I recall correctly, the epic The Tale of Genji was considered insanely romantic in its day, and involved a grown man adopting and raising a 10-year-old to be his wife among many other things (according to the TV Tropes entry on Values Dissonance, some of the stuff he pulls was frowned upon in society at the time, even if some stuff we today consider unacceptable was fine then).
"Oh, no. Because like Miss Greene, Mrs. Grey just wouldn’t *understand* and would only get in the way of their epic romance. Nora doesn’t need to hear her mother throw a tantrum about her only child going out with a guy who stalked and harassed her. Man, how lame would that be? Stupid, buzzkill adult being *worried* about their kid! Who wants to deal with that?"
Given how she reacts when her mother clearly doesn't approve of Patch, yeah that's about it. -_-
"Much love for your spitefic, by the way. :)"
Thank you! :)
"Is Rixon ever going to show up again or is he, as Jacob was in the first book, just an exposition machine? Man, this is so contrived and pointless."
I think he shows up...one other time. Maybe twice, but I think it's once. I don't know, maybe he's supposed to be in the sequel. Here though, yeah he's pretty pointless.

Rape and rapey behavior have been popular in fanfiction for years now as something that is sexy.
